We need you for the building team - Sat 24 Nov

Hey everybody, You are all cordially invited to come down the Forest and hang out in the lovely basement of Lauriston Place. Don't worry, you don't need to have any background in building, just an interest in making the Forest even more awesome. Then again if you're a qualified plumber, electrician ...

Unfortunately my car has fallen over so that offer is out the window but can I be any help on the day? Unfortunately I can't hang around in the evening as it's a friend's birthday.

Re: Forest Vegi Banquet

They're in the lock up but if they're gonna last till the banquet we should put them in boxes seperate by newspaper so none of them are touching. Does anyone have a big mountain of newspaper they've been meaning to take to the recycling?

There are now lots of apples. They are currently in the car. Will try and get hold of Keni later about the lock-up.

Re: Forest Vegi Banquet

Tuesday is Apple pluking day, if shomebody wants to come with us.... 11pm. Marchmont street Indeed it is. It's actually Montague Street. The more the merrier (well 4 seats in the car). The weathers meant to be nice so maybe we can get a stroll along the Tweed? http://www.coldstream-scotland.co.uk/w...

Re: Forest Vegi Banquet

Just finished work and my dancing shoes are no where to be found. Don't think I'll even make it to the pub without a coffee. There's no rush to get down there. Just text me back when you feel ready. The person with the apples sent me their number so we could call ahead.

Re: Forest Vegi Banquet

I've written to them to ask about the apples and when would be a good time to collect. Does anyone have a cool space we could shove them in though? Suspect they might not last until feast time otherwise. Apparently packing them in newspaper in a shed is the best option. Maybe the store house where a...

Re: Forest Vegi Banquet

Sorry, gonna have to miss the meeting tonight. My vote is for lentil curry, delicious, cheap and easy to make in bulk. Plus curry always tastes best when it's leftovers so making it in advance is a bonus. Oh and chana masala too. Would anyone be up for a road trip to Coldstream to get some apples? W...

I'll come along just out of curiosity for how many strangers would join a queue not knowing where it led.

Forest got a bit of press today, which is nice.

No worries.

Put a new post in the People's Forum to see if anyone could spare a keyboard and mouse. Might try the Gumtree stuff wanted section as well.

Needed for the Action Room: USB Keyboard and Mouse

Hello,

The Action room in the Forest could do with another USB Keyboard and Mouse. If you happen to have either kicking about and which you don't need, a gift / loan would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Re: Internet down again

PS the plates and cups delicately balanced on the top shelf around the router look very nice and also make the router very hard to mess with without risking a china avalanche so well down whoever put them up there!

Re: Internet down again

Hey folks, Got the internet working on the Action room Macs this afternoon. The issue was the router above the cafe needed restarting in order to reconnect properly (this also fixed the connection for the free comp in the front room). If the action room Mac doesn't have a connection you can try a so...

Forest's Google Place's Listing

Hey folks, I've "Owner Verified" this and added a bunch of info. This means if you google "vegetarian cafe edinburgh" Forest appears as place C on the front page (below David Bann and Hendersons and beating Black Bo's) rather than hidden down as place I on page two. There's a bit more that can be do...

Seems to be working now although the lock has gone again on the left hand one... The very old lock on the door (same part as the handle) seems like it might still work though. Just need to fix a strip of wood to the door frame for it to stop against. I'll have a rummage in the workshop next time I'm...

I've blocked this for now (although I can't promise it's 100% watertight). I've ordered a replacement bit off ebay and will install that later in the week.

Odeon "will be demolished unless we all object now"

Hey folks,

The old Odeon on Clerk Street is under threat of demolition.

It only takes a few moments to file an objection with the council. Just follow the link below.

http://www.edinscc.org/Files/objection.html

It's a wonderful old listed building that still has so much potential in it.
