Re: website magnification

Don't specify font sizes on the web in pixels. A pixel doesn't correspond to anything useful, how big it is depends on the monitor and resolution, and some browsers (IE6 and IE7 particularly I think) will refuse to resize text with an explicit pixel size. Specifying in points is theoretically better...

This didn't happen, mainly on account of the July events book not existing when I first proposed it and being full of other stuff by the time I got back to it.

But I've got it sitting about on DVD if you fancy putting it on sometime.

Film night Monday 20th July - In the Shadow of the Moon

In recognition of the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing, I'd like to show this film in the cafe on 20th July. There are a lot of documentaries about the moon landings. You've probably seen a few on the telly. They show all the stock footage and narrate it with tedious details about how much ...

We have one in the dorkbot toolbox which you can use if it's urgent but it is NOT to disappear into the black hole of forest tools.

BB self-registration temporarily disabled -UPDATE Re-enabled

Due to ongoing spam problems, registering new users on the BB is currently disabled until we can sort out a good way to prevent spammers from registering accounts.

If you want an account, please ask an existing member to post in this thread or PM me and we'll sort it out.

Re: Network Security

Our previous wireless router is still in the action room, I think. It's a D-Link DSL-604+. What you'd probably want to do is set that up with the old connection settings (SSID "forest", unencrypted), have it do DHCP+NAT on that wireless network, and assign it a static IP on the wire. Then, on the WR...

Assuming the partition table is readable, it's easier to mount later by loopback if you do things per-partition. So for each partition: dd if=/dev/sdb1 of=/path/to/image-file-partition-1 Then, to mount read-only on loopback: mkdir /mnt/partition-1 mount -o ro,loop /path/to/image-file-partition-1 /mn...

There was at one point a forest guitar. It eventually got fucked or stolen, as is the way of all things here. If we bought a new thing every time the old one got broken the forest would go bankrupt in a month. Hence, we wind up with only the stuff that's utterly essential on a day-to-day basis. Othe...

OK. What I changed was to make the ADSL modem into straight PPPoA - PPPoE bridge again, so that all the clever stuff is done on the WRT54G router.
