art in the cafe july

Post by martinmckenna » Thu May 01, 2008 11:11 am

The visual arts group have a proposal to put a sculpture in the cafe at the end of july . it would be installed around the 15th of july . this has been approved by the visual art group . but it is felt it is better to ask everyone what they think about having this in the cafe for two weeks . heres a picture of it . it made from cut cardboard tubes held together by plastic ties . not quite sure about the size of it . it may get bigger ! . idealy mhair was thinking of having it in the library corner .

similarly, kristina came to the meeting to ask about doing some art on some of theplain wooden tables:

"i would like to use the forest space to develop my work. I wish to work with the exxisting rythms in the wood of the cafe tables. My idea is to cover some of the wood with drawing paper and let the lines in the grain of the wood influence and feed into my work in a series of improvised drawings.

I am also interested in the way the pieces would change over a period of time as they become used and worn out, influenced again by external forces. I wish to carry this out on a few of the forest tables which are wooden. I do not wish to damage the tables with any glue that could not be removed. I would like people to continue to use the tables normally."

could be hygene issues here?

if there any objections or concerns please raise them here, if there are none i will let kristina know to go ahead.

all sounds great, let them do whatever they want.. xx
Maybe it could work? But it will be a kaleidoscopic blend of mysterious shadows and rainbow hued-dreams seen through compassionate tears.

I'm into both these ideas.
