Rocca Gutteridge - installation/performance 21st August

Post by michaelbowdidge » Tue Jul 08, 2008 11:00 pm

As part of the General festival type stuff Rocca Gutteridge who is a cool local artist would like to install some sculptures in the cafe and have a performance take place on the evening of thursday 21st August.

The sculptures are basically fake stone column type things with lights in (see attached) and i think the performance would involve a dancer and some musicians but not be so loud as to prevent the normal running of the cafe. The sculptures would only be installed for the evening of the performance, no longer.

She would like to use the centre of the space rather then the stage, would it be possible to move the furniture about a bit that night to accomodate this? Perhaps use the stage for seating as well for that night? Any other thoughts or queries? Nothing is confirmed yet but I thought it would be good to put this out there and test the water.

Is there any news on whether this is a goer or not? i spoke to Rocca and she is having to nail down publicity as this would be promoted as part of the Edinburgh Annuale (which is a kind of Edinburgh Art Festival Fringe type thing run by The Embassy) so it would be great if we could give her a yea or nea by the end of the week...

Any news on the events book, is the cafe free that night?

thanks,

Mike

just write it in!! we're in charge, and we all want it.. so lets have it...
Maybe it could work? But it will be a kaleidoscopic blend of mysterious shadows and rainbow hued-dreams seen through compassionate tears.

Sorry about this - Rocca (the artist) has been back in touch and she would now like to do the performance at 1pm on thursday 21st instead of in the evening of that day as previously agreed - would that be a problem?

Just let you know that Rocca sends her apologies as she was unable to do her performance/installation today due to circumstances beyond her control- we will reschedule this post-festival if that's ok with everyone.
I'll take your brain to another dimension...
