I'm back, so I'll come down and check the events book, post dates and round up some films. Help and suggestions appreciated. Gavin has lent me something good, and Graeme was getting hold of some stuff too.

September has been taken by Ryan (10), Dai (17), Alex (24) and Shannon (1 October).

So, after that, we'll show some good stuff again. Looking forward to Z****Z. Sweet.

what is Z*****?

is it a zorro season? that would be pretty fucking cool.
Maybe it could work? But it will be a kaleidoscopic blend of mysterious shadows and rainbow hued-dreams seen through compassionate tears.

Not Zorro but Zardoz. A very fucked up film with Sean Connery running around in swimming trunks the whole time.

I would like to show a couple of films on Mon 24th if the space is still available.
We shall be showing 'The Meaty Hygiene Horn' parts I and II which should fill up the whole night nicely.

It's a lesser known gay porn bilogy (sic) that orientates around homos breaking hygiene rules at a sausage factory in Aberdeen - with sexy consequences. It gets a bit tedious after a while. Hey, doesn't all tissue box.

I'M JOKING YOU!!!

I went and joined Alphabet Videos last night as I found this film I seen in Manchester and it was fucking amazing, I could never find it again. And, there it was,

1) "All About Lily Chou-Chou"

Also, staying in Japan, I'd like to show an Anime. Out of these whichever's been shown the least, or whichever one has never been shown before,

2) "Metropolis"/"Spirited Away"

Or I can find something totally different if it's been done and people are against it. 2) Films are the ones I find get better and better the more you watch them anyway.

GO JAPAN!!!!

Don't know about Metropolis, but Spirited Away was shown in August at the Filmhouse.

Excellent choices, Alex. Lily Chou Chou is beautiful, and Spirited Away deserves to be shown as much as possible.

Just for the record, Zardoz is unbelievably sucky. But sure, why not.

There's zip listed in the events book all across October.
I need to know options for the events poster.
Do we have takers?

I put forward Zardoz (incredibly sucky but great film about the downsides of immortality, flying heads, slaves and swimming trunks) and Duets (karaoke hustlers, holdups, nervous breakdowns and blowjobs for paintjobs).

Has anything else arrived, Graeme?

I don't have The Goalkeeper's fear of the penalty, but I do have a film of Gavin's about Iranian women footballers, which could go on with The lonliness of the long distance runner, or they could go on separately.

What else?

Faith fancies showing Down By Law.
I'll fit the ones mentioned into the poster.

I have Down by Law on DVD if it's needed.

I'd like to see the Iranian one. When is that due?

Gah - I left getting my film to the last minute and it turns out that no one in Edinburgh seems to have it. Tried Alphabet, Vogue and even Blockbuster. Anyone have anything they really want to show tonight? I was going teenage lesbian with But I'm a Cheerleader, so feel free to suggest things that fit with the theme.

if you haven't found anything, there is Butterfly Kiss(es) - where some psycho lesbians go on the rampage in Northern England, killing Ricky Tomlinson and desecrating a squirrel sanctuary.

That's what it says on the poster.

I don't know if I'll be able to make it. But it is a good film from what I've heard. The projector might need the source changed from VGA to SVideo/Composite with the source button on the remote.

Next week it is Duncan's film, The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner. And the week after it is Breaking Glass. I don't know anything about this - it must be one of Dai's choices.

I've been a bit unorganised, what with moving house and important stuff happening at work. But this is calming down again, and I'll be on top of things next month.

What are Magda and Duncan up to? I don't want to be the only one on top of things.

Breaking Glass is a new wave film from 1981.
(not the best film in the world but probably my favourite)
It will play part of a
PUNXPLOITATION Cause of Death: Punk Rock
Ideally it will be twinned with 'next stop nowhere' the punk episode of Quincy.
I will DJ before, after and inbetween films.
Way to start the week.

Can you get hold of a copy?
I'll do some rooting around for visual kin.
Might anyone have a copy of the D.O.A. documentary, featuring Terry and the Idiots.
