bb issue since upgrade?

Post by neil » Wed Mar 25, 2009 4:35 pm

Under "view unread posts", is the "mark forums read" button working for people?

It ain't doing it for me, roughly since the time of the upgrade, I think.

"Mark post as unread" also doesn't work, given it just redircts back to the same post again thus presumably 'reading' it once more. fraid i'm too busy to dive in and try sort this myself atm, anyone else got time?
hey, if you don't like it, post on the BB (so you can ask about participating for better) | MilkMiruku

Duncan, which version did you upgrade from/to?

Were any of these files changed or replaced...

common.php
search.php
viewtopic.php
includes/constants.php
includes/functions.php
includes/functions_display.php
includes/functions_privmsgs.php
includes/ucp/ucp_pm.php
includes/ucp/ucp_pm_viewfolder.php
language/en/common.php
styles/prosilver/template/index_body.html
styles/prosilver/template/search_results.html
styles/prosilver/template/ucp_pm_viewmessage.html
styles/prosilver/template/viewtopic_body.html

Replacing files is an easy but risky way to upgrade. If any of the files have been altered for a mod, the changes are lost!

Also, this file should still be present:
includes/functions_view_or_mark_unread_posts.php

I suspect the problem is with one of the files in the includes folder.

I knew this was a risk. I used the automatic upgrade stuff that's supposed to merge in mod changes and it worked fine for the mods I'd applied, so I hoped it had too for anything else, but I guess not.

Oh well, what were the mods that you put on ?

I can look them up and reapply.

I suggest that we get rid of the bb its the only solution.

As far as I remember, the only mod I applied to the new bb was View or Mark Unread Posts

Any chance of action on this? Any more info I need to give?

I no longer have access to forest servers so there's nothing else I can do. But if nobody else is going to fix it then please give me the required permissions and I'll do it at some point.

Ok, that seems to be fixed. Some of the code changes for this mod had been wiped out during the upgrade. I've combed through most of it, but not all, so there may still be little bugs. Seems fine though.

Anyone upgrading the bb: please keep in mind that overwriting files will wipe out any modifications to the code in those files. Either know your mods well or don't overwrite! Change the code manually, or come up with some other fancy method!

Oops, I did all this months ago (and it was the most incredible boring thing I've ever done) but I never uploaded the updated files. Was waiting for no one to be on the bb. Sorry.

It's fine to replace bb files on the server while it's in use, generally speaking.
