Post by monkey nuts » Tue Mar 06, 2007 8:22 pm

Minutes

AGENDA

Last meeting
Library, improvements to
Forest Free Press
Golden Hour: The Book
SUBMIT: the relaunch
Postcards for promo
Subscriptions

Last meeting’s actions:
A) shelves maybe not necessary, not so much to BUY. A good reorganisation would help.
B) Action reprimand for Gareth. Where is the web page for the book swap?
C) Zines- letter drafted for magazines, a list of recipients is needed. Dai needs the cheque book.
D) ISBN number research done. See Submit point

Library, improvements to
Good poster near library would be good, with reminder not to steal.
Jane will.
Ryan’s action will be to badger Gareth.

Forest Free Press
5 sheets of A4 maximum- i.e. a booklet.
This should not be confused with being published by Forest Publications.
Everything comes to Jane.

Golden Hour
The quotes, for 96 pages, with a colour cover, perfect bound.
Cromwell Press: £899 for 300 copies, £914 for 500.
If 3 are published, and there’s a subscription list of 20-30, we would have a good case for Scottish Arts Council money.
Still waiting for CD figures from Carrick Press
Ryan’s action: start collating material from performers (including bios)
Nick will get more quotes

SUBMIT
48 pages, 300 copies, £823, 500 copies £881
ACTION- Ryan will get a quote for more pages and less thick paper. For B5

Postcards
An excellent promotional tool, we think, with content on one side, and info about subscribing on the other.

Hmmmmmmmm :x
I really don't appreciate that.
Seriously not good.

There's a web page done now.

I don't fully understand doing the drop down menu bit but it's on the site now.

Happy now?
the more you think, the more you stink

How about we reconsider getting a fancy photocopier if we're going to spend, like, £1000 on publishing?

i don't think the photocopier would be able to do what we are talking about.

and, as the guy who tried to sell me a smoothie machine said: we're not paying £1,000: our customers are. So, each book would cost under £2. So, I reckon we charge 4 - 6? We would loose money on the SUBMITS for a few issues but, god willing, we'd be able to get in the read after about a year?

ultimately, it is forest wg decission. Please get back to us in the Pub. wg! we'd like to know what to do.

Perhaps it's about time we had a Forest wg meeting? What with making all the other working groups have monthly meetings...
